( a 0,0 ejection seat works at zero miles per hour and at zero feet of altitude). i guess it really ruined their day. correct, except - no one was killed.

The A-6 Intruder had engine problems and didn't have enough power to generate enough speed. Therefore the wings couldn't provide enough lift to keep the plane up. The fuel tank was jettisoned and the pilots ejected right before they went in the drink. Seems like the nav/bombardier in the right seat was killed. I saw this on a programme about U.S. carriers.
